 Special Service Suggestions

SUNDAY MORNING: PRAYER AGREEMENT SUNDAY! This idea is worth developing and making a “big deal” out of. It not only puts emphases on high attendance for the first service of the crusade, but it puts emphases on prayer. It’s very simple, practical and productive. Promote it in your bulletin, in Sunday school in the church’s newsletter, any and every creative way you can think of.

Set a goal for the first service five weeks before the crusade begins. It is far better to set a goal and not reach it than have no goal. Very little in life is ever achieved unless it first becomes a goal.

PRAYER AGREEMENT CHAIN

Based on the promise of Jesus in Matthew 18:19-20, I want to be in agreement with others who are praying for real revival, and as an act of my faith and obedience to Jesus, gather in His Name on PRAYER AGREEMENT SUNDAY for the first service of our revival.  Jesus said, “I say to you that if two of you agree on earth concerning anything that they ask, it will be done for them by My Father in heaven. For where two or three are gathered together in My Name, I am there in the midst of them,” Matt. 18:19-20.

I want to claim this promise!

Four Sundays before the first service, begin signing people up with the PRAYER AGREEMENT CHAIN links on the next page. They are easy to reproduce on your computer in color or in black and white on your copier. Then you can cut them into links. As people sign them they can be easily added to the chain by looping them together and stapling them. Display the chain in a conspicuous place at the front of the auditorium.

SUNDAY NIGHT: SPECIAL GUEST NIGHT!  This is actually a prospect dinner for special guests, we are trying to reach for Christ. Instead of just inviting a prospect to the crusade service, they will more likely come if they are invited to a dinner as special guest.  The idea is to get as many prospects at the dinner and service as possible. This can be a time for new people to become better acquainted with the pastor. It’s also a special time for everyone to become better acquainted with the crusade team. In addition it’s a wonderful time of fellowship for your own church members. This is much more productive than having lunch at noon. The team will have a brief inspirational word after dinner just before we go into the auditorium.  You can have potluck, a fish fry, barbecue, soup and salad, taco salad or whatever! It’s a good idea to have the people call the church office and make reservations for themselves and their guest.  Make a “big deal” of this. It’s worth it.  It’s interesting to see some of the creative ideas some people come up with to make this a success.

MONDAY NIGHT: HOT DOG HOG OUT NIGHT! This is not children’s night. We are just having something special for children one hour before the service.  Encourage the parents to come with their children. This is not a service. It’s a fun time. Those who attend are expected to stay for the service. That’s what it says on the tickets and that’s one of the reasons to use the tickets. The evangelist will present an Illusion Show. Directions for this program are in the Children’s Committee section.  Print at least ten times more tickets than you expect to have in attendance.

TUESDAY NIGHT: PIZZA PIG OUT NIGHT! This is for grades 7 through college, one hour before the service. This is not youth night. We are just having something special for the young people on this night.  I have been ask often why so many of us evangelists use the pizza blast idea. There is something magical about pizza. It always works. I don’t understand it, but it works, so I use it. Ice cream does not work. Hamburgers do not work. Steak on a stick does not work. But pizza does! This is not a service. Those who attend are expected to stay for the service. That’s what it says on the tickets and that’s one of the reasons to use the tickets. The evangelist will present an Illusion Show. Directions for this program are in the Youth Committee section. Print at least ten times more tickets than you expect to have in attendance.

WEDNESDAY NIGHT: MIRAICLE NIGHT! A miracle is defined as “An extraordinary event caused by Divine intervention”. We will be praying and preparing for God to intervene and indeed made this a miracle night. The focus of Miracle Night is to get as many church members as possible in the service. This will be a love feast. I really believe this service will have an impact on everyone in attendance.  Many noted theologians, pastors and evangelists have concluded that the greatest mission field in America for the 21st century is within the local church membership.

All week we will be promoting this special night, trying to create a desire to be present. In addition to the special promotion that we will be doing, some churches like to have an All Church Dinner. Do what you think best!

I realize some churches use Wednesday night for special activities for the children and young people. If so let’s take advantage of it. It would be a good time to follow up the Monday and Tuesday services with something for the kids and youth again. HOWEVER, IF YOUR CHILDREN AND/OR YOUTH MEET ON WEDNESDAY NIGHT NORMALLY PLEASE, PLEASE IT IS A MUST THAT THIS NOT TAKE THE PLACE OF THE HOTDOG NIGHT FOR THE KIDS AND THE PIG OUT FOR THE YOUTH.  Since this is the last night of the crusade we must do everything we can to make it the highlight of the week. And I believe it will be. IF THERE IS ANY CONFLECT RELATIVE TO THESE SPECIAL NIGHTS, CALL ME AND LET’S TALK ABOUT IT. THERE ARE SERERAL REASONS WHY WE HAVE THE NIGHTS PLANNED THE WAY WE DO. THE CENTEX OF THE SPECIAL NIGHTS IS VERY IMPORTANT.
