Usher Committee
Your job is very important.
You are the first contact
a person has upon arrival for the Revival Service.
You will be the first,
and in some cases the
only,
contact many visitors will have with your church.
Be sincere, smile, welcome every person.
1.
Arrive fifteen (15) minutes early for every service.
2.
Give everyone a sincere, cordial welcome.
People enjoy being spoken
to as they enter the auditorium.
If you recognize a visitor, make an effort
to
extend a special welcome.
3.
Know the
location of the nursery.
Cordially invite every parent who
comes in with a child in arms to place them in the nursery.
4.
Use the balcony only after the ground floor is full.
Please do not seat any
young people in the balcony unless it is absolutely necessary.
5.
Be prepared to help receive the offering.
During the service listen to our
Music Director. He
will make it very plain when it is time to come forward
to receive
the offering if on is taken.
6.
Dress nicely. Be
sure your breath is sweet.
Use a big smile.
Those who are
in attendance for the first time may be ill-at-ease.
Create a friendly
atmosphere.
7.
Speak in low tones.
Usher with respect and dignity.
8.
Do not permit distribution of unauthorized literature.
9.
Assist in keeping children and adults quiet when necessary.
10.
Be available in case of illness.
It is medically dangerous to change the
position of
an unconscious person who has vomited or possibly broken a bone in
falling.
11.
Should an unforeseen problem arise, consult the chairman of
your
committee or the pastor.
12.
If you are unable to attend the service when you are scheduled
to usher,
please notify your chairman at the earliest moment.
Remember: THE
BEST ABILITIY IS DEPENDABILITY.
13.
Lost articles should be turned in to the church office.
